7th Annual Love Costa Mesa Day

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Trellis and LVM hosted their 7th Annual Love Costa Mesa Day, and it was a huge success! There were over 900 of us who completed 50 projects in the city of Costa Mesa on Saturday morning. We arrived at City Hall and were greeted with live music from local marching bands and beautiful flag performances full of energy to kick off the day and motivate us to perform positively at our nearby projects! Our morning started with a prayer walk led by Kayton and his team. As we walked to each landmark from the Police Station to Vanguard University, fellow believers prayed out loud and started pouring love back into the city. There was a presence of the Holy Spirit leading us to each destination, and as we stopped at the corner where many prostitutes reside, tears came pouring down for the ones who have gone through too much, too soon.

When we headed back, we were met with the others who shared stories on how their projects helped make Costa Mesa a wonderful neighborhood. We painted encouraging murals at our local elementary schools, cleaned up gardens, packed lunches for the homeless community, and planted trees in our neighborhoods. It was an amazing day seeing moms, dads, families, neighbors, business leaders, church leaders, and city leaders all working together for the good of our city of Costa Mesa. We concluded the day with a table set up and a “Spinning Wheel” for a prize. I was competing next to a money machine but when you’re searching for the Lord, you can easily find your tribe. We are the deep blue table with the letters, K-B-R-I-T-E written across. Just look for the yellow sun and all the Christian books! While there a few youth volunteers stopped by to say hi and share how much Jesus means to them. We then read bible verses right out of Alistair Begg’s bibles and as one started another wanted to join. It was truly a blessing to witness.

Trellis said it best when they wanted to partner together to create change for our city. “ We are better together.”

Their mission states, “We are led by our churches, connecting with our businesses, city leadership, and nonprofits to help resolve the city’s spiritual, practical, and relational challenges. In Costa Mesa, we pull people together around prayer, neighboring, the next generation, and homelessness.” Find out more here: https://lovecostamesa.org/
