Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Merry, Merry, Merry. Merry is the word. But what do you do in the season, when you don’t feel merry? You are aware that Christmas is coming up, but… you don’t feel joyful.
People are talking about where they’re traveling for Christmas and how many guests they will have at their dinner table. Stores are fully decorated, and Christmas advertisements are everywhere. All of which is great, but you feel you can’t join the celebration because you are grieving someone. There are no words that anyone can say in a situation such as this, that could ever be enough. Seasons Change and so do the seasons in our lives. As Christmas comes around, we wanted to extend our love and hugs to you, as we don’t have the words. No amount of words could ever bring back a relative who has passed, though we know that they are with the Lord, we are flesh and we desire that they may be around singing Christmas Carols with us, joining us around the Christmas tree, hearing their joyful laughter, their memories and stories.
As Christmas nears, we want to remind you that God is with you in your sorrow and has not forgotten about you. Though people might, God has not. While others can only be with us in our sorrow temporarily, God is with us permanently. Wiping away the tears every single time that they fall.
Psalm 34:18 (NIV) The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
