California Family Council Backs the Federal Title IX Investigation into CIF, Championing the Rights of Female Athletes!

The California Family Council (CFC) welcomes the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) investigation into the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) for allowing males to compete in girls’ sports. For too long, CIF has disregarded the concerns of female athletes, prioritizing radical gender ideology over fairness and safety. This investigation is a crucial step toward restoring justice in high school sports.

Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor stated that organizations like CIF are not above federal law. The OCR’s actions align with President Trump’s executive order, “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which mandates withholding federal funds from programs that violate Title IX. Other institutions, including San Jose State University and the University of Pennsylvania, are also under review for potential Title IX violations.

Sophia Lorey, Outreach Director for CFC and a former college athlete, expressed her support for the investigation: “Title IX was meant to protect girls’ opportunities in sports, not erase them. It’s time for CIF to be held accountable for the harm they’ve caused.”

Sonja Shaw, Chino Unified School Board President, added, “As a mother and advocate for children, I’ve seen how these policies harm girls. We will continue to fight for our daughters. CIF must comply with Title IX, or we will make it clear they are undermining women’s sports.”
